Our Own Devices

An afternoon of adventure.

Our Own Devices

By Tyler Lucas Mobley

Dip into nothing

skipping town,

Hawaiian slice

pineapple underground.

Arms no longer arms,

but propellers motoring

into any desired ripple

for a more simple eternity.

Ocean collaboration

with visual dilation, no

hermit left unshelled from

an encompassing meld.

Every stone turned from

Bikini Bottom.

Wooing day satisfies night,

their love a sight for our eyes.

A light reminder for the striving,

be back tomorrow for the same

lesson said the golden teacher.

Luminous Drops

A series of thoughts while surfing the morning of 10/29/21.

Luminous Drops

By Tyler Mobley

In a world of reminders, reflections of life’s unknowable center pass with utmost familiarity. It may seem obvious after the fact, self aware creatures are bound by the light they see, yet being of light their understanding of its spectrum is only limited by the spectrum itself. A Dude Where’s my Car’s “continuum transfunctioner, its mystery is exceeded only by its power.” Everywhere there is light there is a rainbow, put another way a rainbow exists in all the light we see. When the sun reflects off your phone and casts an iridescence on your hand grasping the wheel while you drive. The Dark Side of the Moon album put it right under our noses, but we only see so much with our ears. A lone beam passing through a prism becomes many as constituents are displayed. There we are, “the all singing, all dancing crap of the world,” pulling out our phones to capture through the clouds what we’d find if we’d look inside (Fight Club).

A surf of revelation sets my receptors open to basement dwellings, a rainbow in the spray off the back of a passing wave shone in the low morning light. Thoughts come knocking, not one to wait is the self referential check in all things, the seed within the fruit. Arriving at Stan Tenen of Meru Foundation, “light in the meeting tent” occurs to relieve some insight. We are no different, take the formless, light, fire, soul, and pass it through the form, prism, water, body, and what appears? A rainbow.

Soren Kierkegaard in The Sickness unto Death frames our condition as a relation to the relation. The central relation between formless and the form, the self is what becomes of the relation to the central relation, thus the self is inherently self referential. To become oneself, find you’re light among the rainbow.

Clicking Reel

Clicking Reel

By Tyler Mobley

Letting out line, mind a clicking reel, wonky

film projector tempting realities to

sprout from skull and politely ask the present

for a dance, only to ruin her and take her place.

Sea surface storms about how the heart wants

if skin would show it, left with throwing rocks

to ripple the calm, trusting it will return when

our minds are ready.

Marble monks on city hall contain all things and

none with how they hold themselves,

conversing behind our backs, you’d swear on

their rolling eyes, unmoved movers of sacred bust.

Falling as a precious drop onto vacant dune,

giving life to dust in a flood of visions, that

may last the next rain.

Absence Eternal

Started from a thought jotted down while driving to work, like those shoulder advisors we’ve seen repeated.

Absence Eternal

By Tyler Lucas Mobley

“You’re here again?”

A demon of ember skin sits gargoyle on the lunch table cover watching Timmy Schwartz walk to chemistry class.

“What do you want?”

Sparks fly off the grin that displays a set of charcoal teeth, “I’m here to show you your future.”

Timmy stops and looks up at the domon, “why don’t you just go away my future is fine without you,” stomping off backpack bouncing.

“When will one turn out? They don’t know the privilege they’re missing, somehow I’m only visible to the shy ones.

“The chemical chain of atoms is made up from a series of bonds; the placement of these bonds determine the type of the element,” says the teacher. Timmy looks around, did he hear her right, did she just say bomb?

“Boo!”

Timmy jumps in his seat knocking his binder to the floor, he can hear the crackle and pop of the demon behind him, but all the eyes in the classroom are on him.

“Is everything alright Mr. Schwartz?” asked the teacher, seeing a distraught little Timmy.

“Tell her nothing is alright, it’s all going to hell.”

The class became more confused when Timmy “shhh’d” the air behind him.

“I’m alright,” said Timmy, “actually could I step out for some air?”

“That would be fine Timmothy.”

His chest tightened, air seemed to be pressed out of him as though the Empire State Building were on his chest. The ground around him turned into a molten rock shaking with steam. Timmy tried to jump free though every leap landed him in a thermal glow, and the ground grows more brittle with each lingering second.

“Had enough?” says the demon, startling Timmy who was planning his next move, “stay away,” Timmy cries and attempts to jump. The cement crumbles under Timmy unloading his springs, a fail characteristic of when people slip while jumping off boat railings, or flimsy outdoor furniture. A static extension causing an off balance landing, Timmy stumbles, trips himself and falls head first into a nearby planter. He pulls his head out of a cherimoya and pats dirt from his shirt, eyeing around he sees no sign of the demon.

“Brother, it is I, creator of all that is and will be.”

Timmy looked at the janitor with his bucket on wheels and mop stick in both hands.

“Yeah, would you mind telling me what is going on here, Mr. … umm ahh Creator.”

The janitor throws back his head in laughter, a crack of thunder, echoes run between the buildings.  “What did you do to him?” asked the janitor of the demon, who was crouched above Timmy, embers sprinkling down.

“He did it to himself, the kid is a box of tissues, you’re choosing him,” the demon asked then snapped his fingers and a cigar appeared in them, “audacious is all.” Biting off one end of the wrap and spitting it out, and then lit the other on himself and blew smoke in God’s face.

“Do you mind stepping aside, Crusty and I need to have a talk,” the janitor said to Timmy.

“Alright? You can wait back in class, Timmy?”

Timmy began to redden.

“Ohh release him would you!”

The demon unclenches a fist that wasn’t around Timmy’s neck, but inflicting force all the same.

“I think I will go back to class, I’ll just be here if…”

“Hey knock that off.”

The demon puts Timmy back on the ground.

“Ask me, the boy can hear, he’s going to have to learn eventually, right?”

The janitor looks at Timmy.

“Right, then how do you expect me to believe your party will end when you won’t even let me have my witness?”

“Witness,” the demon said with a laugh. “Is that what we’re calling it now, and we agree unangeled?

“That’s why we’re here aren’t we?”

Timmy fell into glazed bewilderment not sure if he believed any of this. What would he witness? Angels?

“Timmy,” the Creator said with a sigh. “The world, Earth, goes through phases.”

The demon chuckles, the Creator shoots him a look.

“See the things that bring life also require death.”

“My department,” the demon interrupts with a puff of smoke.

Timmy gulps.

“And you know what the source of all life is, don’t you?”

Timmy looks directly at the sun, not quite at noon. The janitor quickly covers Timmy’s eyes with his hand, and bites a smile over his shoulder.

“That’s right Timmy, the sun is the provider of all life and thus, can take it away.”

“Take away all life? Could it be true?

“Our demon angels descend in hell fire to clean house, just wait and see kid.”

Timmy took another gulp.

“We’re meeting with you so you may ready yourself for the task humanity requires of you. Have you heard of Herodotus? Like him for the next age.”

“A new age?”

“Even the Earth must be reborn, my son.”

“You come with us now and in 30 years time, Earth will go a-rockin, as I’ll be a knocking,” said the demon.

“Ok let me get my bookbag and I’ll be ready to go.”

“That won’t be necessary, just follow us and you’ll have everything you need to know.”

Timmy watched the janitor and demon banter through campus, his pride swelled as he felt his life’s calling agree with every step. Timmy glanced at the sun, and thought how precious a star it was. Timmy steps off the curb.

His shoes landed on the ceramics and woodshop buildings respectively. Since the bus was on the smaller side, it had a normal car hood which Timmy rolled onto up the windshield, and received an extra kick from the raised roof leaving his limp body with considerable amplitude to fall in a fit of acrobatic twist and tumbles, that would’ve been the envy of Biles and Lee until landing face first on the pavement.

The creator and the demon stop and turn to look at what’s the matter. The janitor shakes his head in his hands. The demon says, “guess you should’ve started with how to look both ways.”

Her Way Never Lost

By Tyler Lucas Mobley

Her body a sound garden, storm swept sea

passengers afloat, humming her vibration.

Carried and tossed, her way never lost

cosmic gyres full of glee, winking out reality.

afterthought: simulation, consciousness, energy ladder doesn’t seem all that off. Maude; extremely vaginal.

Monster’s Wading Room

Monster’s Wading Room

By Tyler Lucas Mobley

No need to follow my path,

don’t know how to live with

instigating death.

A brown torrent five meters across

appeared as mild as tea and cake.

Being eaten or becoming prey,

not fond of finding oneself on

the menu.

Timeless terminators, in need of

minesweepers for submarine feet.

There on the beach, sandals in a fist,

we’ve all heard of Russian roulette

we welcomed the unknown.

The phenomenologist SAT,

a religious act of faith, a

declaration to life and it’s

persistence.

Breathing axioms, in up to our

chests, a steady forward pace.

A year later a surfer at the

same crossing caught a bite in

the leg, he didn’t make it out.

A conscious choice, to allow

the world to unfold as it will,

to put your life in the hands of

something beyond yourself.

to lose oneself.” – Søren Kierkegaard

Nature, then Something else entirely…. Literally

Are some people content with not achieving great things?  If giving the opportunity who wouldn’t?  Many of us settle with what we can get by with.  Is that because his or her dreams seem to far away?  Is it the way a person is raised from a young age, or the environment they’re born into?  Are some people just more naturally driven towards success and power while others are happy with what life gives them.  Perspective is everything, I could wake up each morning and be happy with the food, comfort, and security that many of us desirer so badly.  But even then unless I am a monk or an removed from society, that wouldn’t satisfy me or most people as it appears.  Does this show us a glimpse of human nature?  That if a person knows what is possible economically then he or she won’t rest a day till they are satisfied.  But in early agrarian civilizations I think it is known that people didn’t behave this way.  Or perhaps whoever grew the most wheat got the most women?   Since our physical needs are accommodated so easily in modern society that it allows us to be creative and competitive.   Then why aren’t all of us driven the same way as other?   Is it television’s fault?  Maybe a person does believe he or she is doing great things and that alone is enough for that person.  In that case what is the determining factor between that person and any successful figure that has worked their way to the top.  Where I arrive at now is that people are different, interest and what makes them happy.  We are all born with different skill and ability, therefore what makes one person happy does not have to apply to the next.  Why and How?  If you believe in destiny then I know your answer.  Or is that just what makes humans so successful, interesting and beautiful creatures.  We vary more than any other known species, but we know that our genetic make up only differs by less than 1%.  So it has to be our awesome brains then.  It is true that some people are born with higher intelligence than others, but does that cross over to drive and competitiveness.   Are others just more animalistic which causes them to want to out do his or her neighbor.

If you live in America you were told that competition is good, a sort of laissez faire mentality; and in sports it is completely necessary.  But perhaps we have reached a point of interconnectedness through the internet, that if something is good people are going to find out about it.  The reason we have a hundred different brands of toilet paper is because someone thinks that it is profitable to sell it.  Lets say we got ride of every single unnecessary company and job and only kept business that sold a good product or service at a fair price, and anyone else was told to go home and do the thing they love.   Perhaps you wouldn’t need a job, perhaps for every Facebook like you got was worth a bit coin or some sort of adjusted currency that if you were to express yourself online and when people like it it would be profitable.  Maybe you had to work a real job that people in a functioning society depends on i.e. construction worker. work as that for till a certain age then if you feel ready you could stop and pick up a hobby or do what ever it is you love.  There would constantly be a new body of employees ready to put in there time.  If it turns out that working in a restaurant is what makes you happy you would be free to do it for as long as you liked, obviously earning more than you would as on the peer rewarded retirement so to speak.

I’m going to end it there, my point being is, I think there is a better way to run a society, who knows what the future will hold for us, with nano technology and such, where are we going on this crazy ride.  Bound to Earth, for now

Mother and Father Forces

We must look where we’ve been to get a sense of where we’re going.  The first peoples to create civilizations and worship Gods always casted nature as a female figure.   The term Mother Nature is still widely used today.   If we understand where we came from we can have a better idea as to how we can exist peacefully on this plane., The root of human nature is deep within the bounds of the universe.  Suppose this was the case…..

Lets apply Male and Female genders to the key components of the known universe.   Male being all energy and Female being Nature and universal laws, such as gravity.  These two forces are at battle with one another, male always trying to expand and conquer, and female is trying to constantly harness and ground him.  They are codependent on one another as most binary systems are, both intelligent forces with crafty ways of working.  The universe is the battlefield upon which energy and nature are in flux.   Small wars take place all over space; some within stars and black holes, but most of all planets are theirmost creative fight.   They draw parts form one another in effort to fool it’s counterpart.  The female laying out the drawing board and landscape, energy thus provides motion and life.  Energy provides the spark or firing of a gun at the start of the race.  Energy creates the life but nature can shape it’s path, she can use her external forces to influence the walking, crawling, flying, slithering, and swimming energy.   Energy influences nature to evolve it’s creations with what nature can throw at it, thus potentially benefiting energy over time.  The longer time goes on the more energy is dominating nature, but nature can still fight back whenever she wants.  The energy that is formed and designed to conquer nature is still shaped by nature herself.   Energy life forms land on a spectrum of means of conquering on one end and peaceful existence with nature on the other.  No one energy form is bound to either one; at any moment nature can pull a form of energy toward her goal of stoping energy, or show it something that makes it going sprinting back the other.

The fight will go on for ever forever in some part of the universe.  We are the product of creativity from which the universal battle  of energy and nature is exercised through our finger tips.

Reason behind Me

I started a journal back in May of 2011, it was just a way to get my thoughts down and spend time reflecting.  Little did I know it would turn into one of my favorite hobbies, as well as having it’s therapeutic  attributes.  Consistent at times, along with duties of life I always came back to it; now it’s over 2 years later.  Just a word doc. simply titled My Journal (If anyone wishes to go find it) for me it’s a journey through time, taking me back to that day or period.  Rediscovering what I was into then or what I was obsessed about and how it’s mostly irrelevant now.   My favorites are the good times I wrote about, words trigger fond memories, Language, the infinite time machine.

So today for the first time I will share a journal entry, it is jumbled but it is pure.  95% Blue Meth #Breaking Bad.  (had to)  Maybe you can follow my though process.

Here it is……

09/29/13

Each day it rains I am thankful, for it was a good day, sick but not to bad, food is always good, Concert of decisions I made the right one, fun music, fun people, crazy to see all those people at bay front, it was the place to be.  Rainbow falls was epic, jumping and swimming made me feeling shitty.  Climbed so high in that tree, at least 40 feet up with only branches to hold on to, boy what a rush, Found 2nd bay surf spot in Puna, I like Clint he is a good man,  Picked up a hitchhiker named Cody, he was working on a farm in the Woofing program, he’s from Denver.  Had some real Hawaii surf finally, landed a clean air super stoked.  Can’t believe it’s almost October, days soar by gentle and fluid.   I was born to love you, I was born to kiss your face, I was born to rub you, but you were born to rub me first.  Chevy.   Transitional thoughts cloud my thinking, directing it towards filthy waters, cris cross, I’m all turned around, sleepless and hungry a platform emerges from which sure flow of though is achieved, Words to evoked, evoking trees to be trees and waves to crash around me as if I am the center of all that I understand.  Distractions are my enemy, today was unproductive and productive all the same, it was a day that I will never get back, it is real to think that all life is a end, No because we have multiple emotions and in the end to judge which did I have more of, the good or the bad, will you be objective.

Mind Expression

With the search bar we need not to know anything, just it’s location and the ability to tell right from wrong.  Judgment, rationality, justice, I tend to think in this manner.  Is something fair? Is it the logical decision? Who cares what one thinks is logical, it almost certainly won’t apply to the next mind to conceive of my mind.   Expression, we all do it, intentionally or lacking intent, you show who you are, how your mind works, what words or ideas trigger others.  Conversation, painting, music, we all Express ourselves, like priority mail, first class.   Leading the fleeting, like generals of of war, the moment of expression is never more critical, courage arises only to fall limp in the dirt.  I’ve never been more thankful to be literate than right now.   Words are the lens to which to world is understood and shared, why not know a few.   The big picture is exciting and challenging to shrink into the mind, especially when the particulars are broadcasted via tube and web.   Why are people drawn to some things and others to others? Why does someone feel comfortable in one place and not another?  Nature or Nurture you could say.  We all are so beautiful here on this rock.  Greatness has never been more accessible or viewed.

This is one medium I’m choosing to express myself.  Thoughts for thoughts
